Doing Facebook and YouTube LIVE broadcasts really help grow your online business!
Yes, you heard it right.
So in this week’s episode, we’re going to share our insight on live video content and how it can exponentially boost your audience’s awareness of your brand.
Recently, we’ve been doing several live events online, like Q&As and AMAs (ask-me-anything); we were testing this digital marketing strategy to see how it affects our brand and numbers.
The results took us by surprise!
There was a massive boost in our online followers, conversion rates and sales shortly after we’ve done live content.
In a Forbes article, it said that 87% of online marketers are implementing the use of video content to grow their brands. This made us realize just how powerful social media is and how online entrepreneurs can benefit from this kind of content creation.
Here’s a summary of what we’ve learned about live video content, advantages and some pro tips to overcome that fear of being in front of the camera.
5 Advantages of using LIVE video content:
Easy to create.
- Live videos are super simple and can often be done on your phone. You don’t need fancy gear to share it online, no need for editing, and just gives you that freedom to do it anytime or anywhere you want.
Boosts authority.
- If you present yourself as an expert, people are going to accept you as an expert. Doing live videos boosts your online authority, because people think you won’t hit “record” if you’re not qualified.
Boosts authenticity.
- A live video allows your audience to relate to you on a deeper level. They get a sneak peek of who you are as a person, what your brand is about, and why you’re doing what you’re doing. Going live shows your audience that successful people are real and they have vulnerabilities too. This makes them eager to know you even more and relate to your story — which makes them feel that they have a chance of becoming successful too.
Engages your audience real time.
- Live videos notify people who follows your page real time, this gives them the opportunity to jump in and participate. Here, you can establish your credibility as the expert and foster engagement between members of your group.
Boosts sales.
- Build enough curiosity with a good topic and description, and you’ll get a huge sales boost.
- More live videos = more chances of even more people finding you. Ultimately, when more people see your content, the bigger the chance that they’ll buy something from you.
Pro tips:
- Do what makes you feel comfortable and confident.
- Use an outline to guide you through the video.
- Do it as often as you can, until it becomes routine.
- Get friends to view your live videos for practice.
- Build curiosity with a good topic and description.
- Remember that you have the power to kick trolls off of your group.
- Address the concern, but ignore unnecessary negative comments.
You will learn:
- Advantages of LIVE video content
- How to overcome spotlight syndrome
- Coming up with a plan for your LIVE video content
- Dealing with haters and trolls
- Plus so much more!

Success Story of the Week:
This week’s Flip Your Life success story comes from the Flip Your Life community member, Kevin Depew, and the subject of his post in our success forum said: I sold eight more membership with my Holiday special!
It says, “We had a busy, but good December. I ran a Holiday special for five dollars for the first month, then nineteen a month or ninety a year. At the same time, I told folks that prices are going up January first — still nervous about that. I sold one annual and seven monthly memberships. Thank you to all the great members here and your incredible support, it’s such a fantastic community and a big thanks to S and J. This year has been a amazing and I could not have done it without you guys.”
Some things just make your heart smile. Kevin Depew makes my heart smile, because whenever I read his posts, I think back into his struggles and how he started his brand and could barely get any traction and now, he’s heading into the new year with over thirty members.
How cool is that? Imagine if you could get thirty people to pay you fifty dollars a month for your online content, you’d be making like fifteen hundred dollars a month. And what’s really cool is that Kevin’s wife actually, she just retired and she coming on full time to help him grow this business even more in the New Year. So, this was a super exciting success story.
And we were so excited, we celebrated around here like we had done something.
We get so much more excited when you guys do things than when we do things.
Congratulations, Kevin. Good job! Way to go for being a great inspiration the community.
We would love to help you write the success story for your online business.

Can’t Miss Moment:
Today’s can’t miss moment is moving into our new office. We actually have just bought a new house to have as an office, because as our business has grown and our kids have started a YouTube channel and we have had a podcast for a really long time. Our equipment was starting to take over our residence.
Every single room in our house had a camera or a microphone or a huge green screen or lights or something like that.
This is a can’t miss moment because I don’t think we could have even fathomed owning two houses at any time in our life before we started our online business. And now, when we looked at each other and said, “Hey, let’s go get some kind of office space,” at first we thought, “Let’s go rent something,” but then we were like, “Let’s buy something! We have enough money, let’s go buy an asset that we own and we’ll just buy a house. You can have one bedroom as an office, I can have a bedroom as an office, we can use the master bedroom as like a podcast studio and we’re gonna setup a YouTube studio out in the garage for the kids.”
And it was just really freeing to be able to make that kind of choice without having to worry about it. We can just go get what we need or what we want to take our life to the next level and that comes from having your own online business.

Shane: Welcome to the Flipped Lifestyle Podcast, where life always comes before work. We’re your hosts, Shane and Jocelyn Sams.
We’re a real family who figured out how to make our entire living online. And now, we help other families do the same.
Are you ready to flip your life?
Alright, let’s get started.
What’s going on everybody? Welcome back to the Flipped Lifestyle Podcast. It is great to be back with you again on today’s show.
Super excited about today’s topic, we’re gonna be telling you all about how we’re using Facebook Live and YouTube Live to grow our business, and give you some tips and tactics to help you use live video in your business as well.
This is gonna be a fun episode to record because we are actually inside of our house right now. We’re in our bedroom looking out the lake. It is cold, it is rainy and we have blizzard heading our way. Our dogs are outside right now in the kennel. They’re having fun barking at something, going crazy. So, you might hear some dogs barking in the background, and Isaac is actually here with us. He has had a flu this week and he’s laying on the bed directly behind us. So, you’re gonna hear some wind blowing, you’re gonna hear some dogs howling and you may hear a kid coughing on cue right there, during today’s show.
Jocelyn: Alright, we are really excited about today’s show, and we want you to hangout here with us until the end because we are going to share a little bit more about our upcoming live event in September of 2018: Flip Your Life LIVE.
Shane: That event is going to be in September, it’s gonna be in Nashville. And we’ve got a really important announcement to make at the end of today’s podcast.
But the rest of this program is all about Facebook Live, YouTube Live, doing live events online. This can be Q&As, AMA style events where people can ask you anything. It can be webinars, anything that you’re doing online live.
Live video and live presentations are really hot topic right now in the online world. And live video is going to be what we are all doing in the future to promote and sell our brands.
I read a statistic the other day that said 87% of successful online marketers are using video and live video to grow their brands. And a really is a good reason for that. Right now, videos specially live video is getting so much more reach on social networks and in search results than anything else you can do.
People want to consume video, they want to listen to the videos, they want to watch the videos. And the social networks and the search engines know that. So when people go in and look for something, they are finding live video feeds.
Jocelyn: Live video, it really boosts your authority, as well as your authenticity, and lets people know that you are a real person.
The beauty of live video and the thing that makes it also a little bit challenging is that it is live, if you make a mistake people are there to see it. But I think sometimes that’s beneficial, especially for our personal brand like what we have. You guys like to see that we’re human and that we makes mistakes, and I assure you, we do that often.
Shane: All the time.
Jocelyn: You know, it just reminds people that you’re real and that you know what you’re talking about.
Shane: You said something there that was really interesting. It does boost authenticity.
You know, we focus a lot on authority. We want people to know that we’re experts in our field, we want people to know that we can help them and do something for them.
But that authenticity is really why people come to your brand. It’s not about the content, it’s not about the thing you know that nobody else in the planet knows. A lot of people tell us that they come to us because we have southern accents, and we’re real, and we have kids, and you know, we’re just going through the same things that they are, and nothing can demonstrate that like live video.
It’s almost like getting to know someone. You meet someone, you can small talk, you can ask each other questions and you really get a relationship through live videos that just can’t get anywhere else. When we record videos, sometimes they’re edited, and they’re polished. There’s just this slight glossiness that makes it not real, but there’s nothing more real than doing something live.
Jocelyn: So one night, we were recording a live video. Every… actually twice a month, we get on with our Flip Your Life community members, and Shane and I do a live Q&A for about an hour, or an hour and a half.
Shane: We usually get about twenty to thirty questions or something like that, there’s usually about seventy to a hundred people and it’s really an exciting event. It’s a lot of energy and it’s just a good time.
Jocelyn: And sometimes we do them in our evening. Well, this particular time, we were starting to record and we usually schedule them at 9PM eastern, because our kids go to bed theoretically around 8. And…
Shane: In theory, as always, what you should put before anything with your children, right?
Jocelyn: Yes. So, we’re down here, we’re answering questions, we’re having a good time, right here on video and the next thing you know, our daughter wanders in with a bag of rotisserie chicken. Like the rotisserie chickens that you buy from the grocery.
Shane: The full chicken. You know how you can go to Walmart or Kroger -or wherever you go to the grocery store- and you can buy a cooked full chicken? Anna Jo had it slung over her back like Santa Claus with this giant cooked chicken.
Jocelyn: So then, she seats down on the floor and proceeds to eat the chicken with her hands.
Shane: While we’re doing this, I look down and Anna Jo was covered in grease and chicken skin was hanging on her nose, and she would come in to the camera and hold up like the chicken leg bone to prove she had eaten the chicken. This was all happening live! We had scheduled this call and there was like a hundred people there listening to us, and we were like, “What do we do?! We’ve got a person eating a chicken on the side, eating like a nut!”
Jocelyn: So, we just let her eat it, because what do you do?
Shane: Roll on, babe. What do you do? But then, let me tell you something of all the Q&As and all the live videos we’ve done, that was by far one of the most energetic, most fun and our people who were in the chat, the Flip Your community, was dying laughing. Everybody was making chicken jokes and just all kind of stuff, and it was by far one of the best live things we’ve ever done.
Jocelyn: And people get it. I mean, a lot of you listening to the show were like, “You know what? this sounds like it could have happened at my house.” Because, again, we’re normal people who live normal life and have kids who don’t go to bed on time sometimes.
Shane: But if we were recording something, like just a video, we’re gonna edit it and release it out there. We would’ve probably took that out. We would have doubted ourselves and have been scared to show people the real us, but by forcing ourselves to do it live, everybody got to get in on the joke, everybody got to have a blast and that became a memorable event. And I guarantee you, most of the people on that call can one hundred percent remember what had happened -I’ll never forget that- and it will make them remember the answers to the questions more. It makes that event so much more impactful in their life and it just builds that community. You just cannot do that anywhere else.
So, live video, for all of its craziness is the best way to build that authority and authenticity.
What we have learned lately too is that live video can really boost sales, and that’s why we’re all in this guys. We’re in this to make money, we’re in this to earn a living online so that we can have time freedom to be with our families.
As we have added live video to our strategy over like the last two months, we have noticed a significant increase in sales. I was actually doing some numbers just the other day and in thirty days of doing live videos consistently, we increased our monthly revenue by fifteen percent. And that was just doing live videos consistently. I really didn’t even have a plan for our live videos. I’m just said, “Hey, I’m gonna do two a week, and I’m gonna see what happens for four, five weeks.”
And all of a sudden we just see more people joining, we see more momentum and we see more people sticking around and retaining members. All because we’re doing more live stuff. We’re doing live stuff with our members, we’re doing live stuff publicly, we’re doing all of these different live content and it has really made a huge difference in our brand.
So, we wanna spend the rest of our time today talking about how you can get into video and start using live video to grow your brand too.
Alright, so when we talk about live video with our people, in the Flip Your Life community, you know we get a lot of different questions like there’s so many platforms, there’s so many places to do it and where should I be doing it and what should be doing? And we wanna just kind of narrow down our focus right now to Facebook Live and Youtube Live.
The reason why we’re focusing so much Facebook Live is because they have the biggest audiences, they have the most eyeballs. Everybody’s on Facebook already. If you do a Facebook Live in your Facebook group or your Facebook page, or even on your personal page, you’re going to get some people seeing that right away because you have followers, or you have friends and somebody’s gonna be able to see that video.
It’s the same thing with Youtube live, when you do Youtube Live, you’re pretty much putting your live video not only in one of the biggest search engines on the planet, but it’s gonna show that in search results while your doing it and later. So, you’re making a recording that people can see later. You’re creating content that is not only shown to people live, but shown to people in the future as well.
Jocelyn: And some of you might be thinking, “Well, I’ll probably need some type of fancy equipment or something special to make these videos.” No, we just use our iPhone. I mean, it’s really that simple. It’s very low tech, it’s a very low level entry, just turn on your webcam, turn on your phone, turn on your iPad, whatever you have that has a video camera and can record sound, that’s perfectly fine for doing these videos.
Shane: It’s actually I think easier than any other from of content that you can create, because if you have a computer, you just go to YouTube and setup an account and you hit Go Live and it’s broadcasting. There it is. You can share your screen, you can click over and show yourself on camera, you got a microphone on your computer –it’s really, really simple.
It’s so much simpler than even creating a blog post or you know embedding something in WordPress and all of the things that we do. Facebook Live is even simpler, you open your phone and click Go Live and you are live to the entire world. It’s probably the lowest barrier to entry to any kind of content you can create. It’s so much easier than creating a podcast. It’s way easier than creating a podcast. When we do a podcast, and we love podcasting, it’s our main form of content but have to record it, it has to be edited, we got to get on to our website, then get the RSS feeds and all that into the iTunes directories and there’s a really complex machinery behind launching audio content just like there is, sitting down writing a post, finding pictures — even blogging takes a long time.
But if you’re gonna do a live video? You could start your business today and turn it on and start talking to the world.
As a vehicle for your information, as a piece of content, it’s probably the easiest thing you can do. So, there’s really no excuse from a technical aspect of not being able to get your live video strategy going, but there are a lot of other things that hold people back from doing live video.
Jocelyn: I know what some of y’all are thinking ‘cause I am right there with you. Alright, well. What if I don’t look right? Or what if someone thinks that I have not brushed my hair today?
Shane: What if I’m in my pajamas? which we are right now.
Jocelyn: Yes. What if I mess up? And someone sees it and calls me out on it. What if my kids walk in and eats rotisserie chicken? I mean the struggle is real, people. Okay? And I am probably not the best person to talk about overcoming this, because I still have a problem with live video, it’s still very hard for me. I do participate in live videos sometimes and I will say that the more often you do it, the easier it gets.
Shane: We actually just had a question the other day in our Flip Your Life community, where someone said I am terrified to do live video, and she was specifically talking about a webinar but then she talked a little bit more about her Facebook Live strategy and all that. And she was like, “I’m just so scared to do it. I’m not confident in the way I look. I feel like people are judging me. I don’t wanna mess up, you know, everyone’s gonna see it, it’s there forever. I just can’t get over this fear of sitting down in front of the camera for fifteen, twenty minutes.”
Basically, what I told her was, “Look, it’s just repetition. Repetition removes fear. Turn your Facebook Live one day, and be like, ‘Hey everybody! This is my Facebook channel, just wanted to jump on here and do a quick live. Thanks for checking out my page.’” Done! End it. You’re done, you did a Facebook Live. You don’t have to do some epic Nobel prize winning Ted talk on your Facebook Live, you just have to jump on there and do it.
The next day, jump on there and say, “Hey guys! I found this cool tip, here it is! I’m out.” Two minutes, right? And then each week, add a minute. Each week, get a little bit you know more into it. Make a plan.
Whenever I do a Facebook live, I take thirty minutes, and I’ve got a little paper that I made and what I do is I print one off or I pull it up my iPad Pro, and I start sketching in and outline a plan. Just what am I gonna talk about. This is just a collection of questions that get me ready to have something to talk about. So, I don’t go into the Facebook Live blind all the time. I’ve got little plan there, an outline that will guide me through the process.
Jocelyn: This is especially for the ladies out there, if it makes you feel better, then do your hair, do your makeup. This is what I do when we do live videos, but every now and then, I will appear as I am right now, which is sort of like a hobo.
Shane: You just called yourself a hobo. On air. On our podcast.
Jocelyn: But usually, I do at least shower and attempt to brush my hair and you know, put a little bit of makeup on, because I am a little southern girl afterall and southern girls, we have to look good.
Shane: You don’t go out in public without your hair fixed though, you know what I mean? And it cracks me up, because whenever we have a live video that we’ve kind put on our calendar and like, “Hey! We’re gonna do this Facebook Live together!” or “Hey, were gonna do this YouTube live together!” or “Hey! We’re gonna do a live event for our community!” Jocelyn disappears into the bathroom for like forty five minutes and she comes out like it’s date night, baby. She comes out all dressed up, hair looking good and she does have this better confidence when she’s done that because she’s prepared for it.
So, if you need to get over this fears, and excuses that your making for not doing live video, create systems that help you be confident and prepare you, in a routine and a system to get you going — it’s no different than like morning routine to get your day off to a good start. Have a live strategy where you get over these fears. You address them one at a time and you just go and attack them, so that you get into these in a good mindset. You’re prepared and do it enough. Don’t do one Facebook live a month. Don’t do one YouTube live a month. Do them twice a week, three times a week. Even if no one shows up for the first month. Keep going, keep talking until you get comfortable enough where it becomes routine.
Jocelyn: Another fear that a lot of people have is what if I get ready, prepare all this stuff for a live video and no one shows up. If you’re anything like me, this is actually a good thing — yes.
Shane: Yes, nobody showed!
Jocelyn: Specially when you’re just starting out. You probably don’t want a lot of people to come just to kind get some practice. Pretend like there’s someone there. Even get someone who’s maybe like a really good friend of yours to come on to your video. Just so you can see that it says one person is watching. And you can get some practice in front of someone.
Shane: Yeah, I love that idea. When we’re at Facebook Lives, we’ll email our list, I might tell a few of our community members that were having a Facebook live ahead of time so that I know some people will get there, because it is good to have friends in the room, it like builds that confidence up. The crazy thing about it is, people will show up if you’re creating really good descriptions, really good titles for your videos. If you’re doing a good job in your comments explaining what you’re gonna cover that day and building curiosity. Even if you don’t have a big audience, people are going to see live videos.
When you do a YouTube live, it goes into the search results immediately. It shows up that there’s a live video about this topic and people will find it.
On Facebook live, two or three of your friends make it on, somebody may share it and all of a sudden, you’ve got five, six, seven, eight, ten people, maybe more watching your videos even if you have a small audience.
Just by doing live video, you’re giving people a chance to find you. So, if you don’t do anything, nobody will ever show up in your business or your brand. But if you do do these live videos, and you do this, you’re gonna create a situation where people can find you, they’re gonna see you do have authority and do have expertise, and they’re gonna get to know you as an authentic person that they can trust. Not only with their time, not only with their attention but with their money.
Now the next problem that a lot of people have is, “What if the wrong people show up?”
What if the haters — oh, the dreaded haters — haters show up, spitting and throwing hate raid everywhere we go. And all of a sudden people saying stupid stuff in the comments or we’ve got people insulting us and other people, there’s just someone not being a very nice person in the comments on your chat or of your video.
Jocelyn: So, one thing that you might do because the haters will come, it doesn’t matter what you do, it doesn’t matter what your saying, it could be the most non-controversial thing ever and someone will still come and be a hater.
Shane: The trolls live on.
Jocelyn: The best strategy for me when dealing with haters is to not see what they’re saying. Maybe this means putting a post-it note over the comments for you.
Shane: Maybe it needs turning comments completely off. You don’t have to let people comment on your stuff.
Jocelyn: I really try to make an effort not to read comments, it’s really important for me because it really bothers me if someone says anything negative, so I just try to avoid it altogether.
Shane: And don’t forget, if you do leave comments in your chat open and on, you have all the power, all these platforms give you the ability to give the boot to the trolls. To give the boot to the haters. You can just delete their comment and ban them from the room and now, they cannot participate anymore on your live video.
Jocelyn: But this can also be the opportunity for you to alleviate any negative things about your brand, maybe it’s a legitimate concern that someone has and they’re not being a hater for meanness, they’re just saying, “Hey, I don’t like your product because of this reason.” Then you can go back and say to them, “Oh well, thank you for that feedback and the reason that we do it that way is this.” And I think that sometimes, people appreciate you explaining the reason that you do things instead of just saying, “Oh, that person’s a hater, I’m ignoring them.”
Shane: “Oh! You’re a hater. Ban hammer. You’re gone.” Yeah I love that. So just address the hater’s concern, address the troll and if it really bothers you, just turn it all off. You don’t have to worry about it until later anyway.
Yeah, that happened to me one time when we were doing a Facebook live, what happens sometimes is people will hit like the hate button and that little angry face will float across the Facebook live, and it always kind of like stuns me or startles me a little bit, because here I see my face on the video or I see the screen — whatever I’m sharing — and someone will just log-in and they’d be like, “Oh, these people make money online, yeah right! Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.” And I just start this little hate thing going on.
So, I started asking for hates when that happens, I’m like, “Oh! We got a hater in the room! Look at this hater! Everybody give me some hate.” And people start punching the angry face. And now they’re like, “Now, kill them with kindness, give them some love.” And you can engage the other people, you can like activate the army to attack the hater and the hater will usually leave. The hater will go away, because haters are just bullies and all we have to do is let them know, “You can’t stop me from living my dreams. You can’t stop me from being successful. You can’t stop me from my happiness, go away.” And just let them be themselves. ‘cause here’s what we do know, the haters are not doing Facebook lives, they’re watching yours. They don’t have time to do anything else, they’re not building their lives, they’re not building people up, they’re not trying to be successful, they’re so sad and mad at their bully self that they’re trying to tear you down or tear other people down.
So, they’re not worthy of our attention and we cannot let them win, we just have to move forward and not worry about any of the hate.
Jocelyn and I have been planning of our strategies and really getting into our data and trying to identify the best things that are happening in our brand, so that we can do more of those things. And we’ve really noticed that live video is helping our brand so much. I think back to the first night I was gonna do a Facebook live in this new strategy where we had a plan, we knew we were gonna pitch and sell on the Facebook live.
The first night that I did the first Facebook live in this new strategy, in a thirty minute session, we sold nine memberships to our community and it was just so amazing because it took so much less time than building a huge sales funnel, and it took so much less time than creating a massive webinar and presentation and marketing and doing all this things. We literally just turned on a video, talked, answered people’s questions and offered them a great deal on our membership. And just like that in thirty minutes, we had given ourselves a raise. We had nine new members, nine new people who are now in the Flip Your Life community, doing whatever it takes to take their dreams to the next level too. It was just so amazing to see such instant success that it kind of sold us that live was where it was at.
Live video, live events, live webinars, that’s gonna give the best chance to succeed the fastest.
Jocelyn: So, even if you’re a little bit afraid, we highly recommend live video. It is awesome for building your brand. You can just get over that initial fear and it’s hard, I know it is, because I’m right there with you. I still struggle with doing live video, if Shane didn’t make me do it, I probably wouldn’t.
Shane: So basically, I’m here to make everyone who’s listening right now go do a live video is that what you’re saying?
Jocelyn: Pretty much, yeah.
Shane: So that’s gonna be my challenge, that’s gonna be the Flip Your Life, Flipped Lifestyle Shanes’ challenge for this week for everybody listening is: Don’t be afraid. If you are afraid that’s a great chance to be brave, so find some courage.
Listen, as soon as you stop driving or get off the treadmill, or wherever you’re at right now, listening to this show, go to Facebook, go to your Facebook page or go to your Facebook account, your profile and just hit Go Live and say something live, it doesn’t matter. Just say, “Hey guys, I am going to the gym’, or “Hey, I just went to the gym,” or “Hey, I was listening to a podcast and it was awesome!” or whatever just tell them something and turn it off and do your first Facebook live, right now.
As soon as you get home and you get to a computer, go to YouTube, log in to your Gmail account, your Google account and go look at creator studio and just hit live. And just turn it on and see what happens, see if somebody watches, see if somebody likes your page. I promise you, you’re gonna have great results after that, it’s going to help you get past that fear and you’re gonna be able to start using live video and live events in your brand.
Jocelyn: Alright guys, we are about out of time today but before we go, we wanna tell you a little bit more information about our upcoming live event, Flip Your Life Live in Nashville in September of 2018.
You can see all the details on flippedlifestyle.com/Nashville, so check it out and see if you’re available to join us.
Shane: And guys, we wanna encourage you to go to that page as soon as you hear this podcast because when this comes out the tickets will have already been on sale for a couple of weeks, and it is already selling out fast. We had a waiting list for this event before we launched it and our Flip Your Life community members got first dibs at the seats. So this thing is going to sell out, all the tickets are going to be gone and you need to get onto flippedlifestyle.com/Nashville right now if you plan on attending, if you want to attend, or if you just want to see what it’s all about.

Jocelyn: It’s now time to move into our can’t miss moments segment. These are moments that we were able to experience recently that we might have missed if we were still working at a normal nine to five job.
Today’s can’t miss moment is moving into our new office. We actually have just bought a new house to have as an office, because as our business has grown and our kids have started a YouTube channel and we have had a podcast for a really long time. Our equipment was starting to take over our residence.
Shane: Every single room in our house had a camera or a microphone or a huge green screen or lights or something like that.
Jocelyn: So, it was starting to take over our entire existence and we didn’t really have a guest room because we were using the guest room as an office and I really wanted to be able to have guests. So, we decided that we were going to buy a house for this purpose.
We’ve been moving in, we spent yesterday getting everything out of boxes and hooking everything up and forgetting everything at our current house and things like that. So, it has been a fun time trying to get everything together.
Our next mission is to paint a dry race wall in the house.
Shane: It’s pretty cool.
As much as we love to share our can’t miss moments with you guys, there’s something that we love to share even more. And that is a success story from one of our Flip Your Life community members. So, before we go, we wanted to share an actual success story from the success forums in the Flip Your Life membership. This week’s Flip Your Life success story comes from the Flip Your Life community member, Kevin Depew, and the subject of his post in our success forum said: I sold eight more membership with my Holiday special!
Jocelyn: I love it, Kevin. I’m really excited about this one.
It says, “We had a busy, but good December. I ran a Holiday special for five dollars for the first month, then nineteen a month or ninety a year. At the same time, I told folks that prices are going up January first — still nervous about that.”
Shane: They get nervous about it. A little nervous about raising prices, but you gotta do it though.
Jocelyn: Good work, Kevin.
He said, I sold one annual and seven monthly memberships. Thank you to all the great members here and your incredible support, it’s such a fantastic community and a big thanks to S and J. This year has been a amazing and I could not have done it without you guys.
Shane: Some things just make your heart smile.
I remember the day Kevin Depew posted ‘I got my first member’ and now we’re talking about…
Jocelyn: And we were so excited, we celebrated around here like we had done something.
Shane: Jocelyn like yelled from the other room, ‘Kevin got a member!’ and I was like ‘Yeah!’ we were screaming, the kids were screaming, they didn’t even know why.
Jocelyn: We get so much more excited when you guys do things than when we do things. We’re excited when we do things, but we’re really excited when you guys do it.
Shane: But now, it’s like to see Kevin drop in eight new members into his membership. And that’s just like an amazing thing.
Congratulations, Kevin. Good job! Way to go for being a great inspiration the community.
Before we go today, we’d like to close every show with a verse from the Bible.
Today’s bible verse comes from Ecclesiastes 10:8-9. I love this Bible verse, I’m so glad to share this with you guys today, in Ecclesiastes chapter 10, the Bible says, “When you dig a well, you might fall in. When you demolish an old wall, you could get bitten by a snake living in that wall. When you work in the quarry, stones may crush you. When you chop wood, there’s danger with every stroke of your axe.”
And what the Bible is saying here guys is there is risk. There is risk and it’s scary. There’s fear that could hold you back in every worthwhile pursuit. Digging a well is a good thing. Tearing down an old wall to build something new is a good thing. Working in the quarry, chopping down the wood, building your online business, all of these things are great things, but there are risks, there are dangers, there are things that lie ahead, and we cannot let fear hold us back. That’s the point of this passage, in every worthwhile pursuit, there’s something that’s scary to hold you back, don’t let it hold you back. Dig your well, tear down the old wall and build something new, swing your axe and never let fear stop you from achieving your dreams.
That’s all the time we have for this week, as always guys, thanks for listening to the Flipped Lifestyle Podcast and until next time, get out there, take action, and do whatever it takes to flip your life.
We’ll see you then!
Jocelyn: Bye!
