Have you ever had someone cancel on you? What about twice?! Well, I have!
Time management and relationships are vital in the online business space!
If you are a:
- Blogger
- Podcaster
- YouTube creator..
You are inevitably going to be doing interviews. Scheduling conflicts and life happens to all of us, that’s why I wanted to talk about it and how to overcome it in today’s weekend edition of the show!
Show Notes
How can you respect your time others’ time? (3:30)
When I first started out I had the opportunity to be on the podcast of a pretty big influencer. I knew this influencer in particular really hates a lack of time management or people showing up late to appointments.
It just HAD to be this person that I completely zoned out on and forgot our appointment. I asked if we Ould reschedule and that person LIT ME UP. It wasn’t malicious in any way, but none the less – it happened.
Do you HAVE to have that podcast episode? (7:00)
If you miss this one opportunity are you going to lose all your work you’ve done up to that point? No!
There will be other opportunities! As humans we get emotional and think, “oh, this is the greatest opportunity ever!” Is it really? No!
Opportunity, Grace, and Redemption. (10:30)
Based on time management and relationships – I have come up with a way to remove myself from the emotional side of scheduling and time management conflicts. By using this format, I respect my guests’ time but I equally respect my own!
- Opportunity: When I reach out to somebody to be on my podcast it is an opportunity for that person. We have an opportunity to connect, build a relationship, and to open the door for partnerships. It’s a chance for us to help each other.
- Grace: Whether it’s a few days before, hours before, or minutes before, the second cancellation is called grace. This goes for both the guest and I, it doesn’t matter who cancels! Life happens, I’m not going to invest any emotion into it.
- Redemption: I call my last chance “redemption.” I need to move on after that to get other opportunities. Every 30 minute black on my calendar is a huge opportunity! The door is always open, but that person has to come to me.
