If you are going to be an online entrepreneur, that means you will eventually find yourself in front of an audience leading and teaching a live workshop.
It could be an online summit, a speaking gig, a webinar, a training for your community, or even an in-person workshop!
Whenever we do a live workshop, we have four goals in mind:
- First, that our audience learns the material we are teaching
- Second, that our audience turns what they learn into a plan for their business or life
- Third, that our audience leaves the workshop or session with great clarity and their questions answered
- Fourth, that our audience TAKES ACTION on what they have learned, and gets a result
Based on those goals, we format our live events and trainings to help the audience get the most out of their experience.
We call this format “Learn, Plan, Ask, Do.”
Here’s how it works…
1) Learn (15-30 minutes)
The first part of your live training should be you teaching the attendees. This is where you give your presentation/talk and tell participants what you what them to learn. Give them all the information they need for taking action later.
2) Plan (15-30 Minutes)
During this segment, you need to step back and get out of the attendees way. Give them time to process what you just taught them in the Learn segment. Let them talk to each other, wrestle with the content, and form questions. This valuable time will help them absorb your teaching, and be able to get more out of your presentation.
3) Ask (15-30 Minutes)
Come back after the plan section, and let your attendees ask you questions about the material. This will help not only the individual asking the question, but give the rest of the room more clarity as they hear you deliver answers.
4) Do (15-30 Minutes)
This is the most important part of the process. Give your attendees time to DO something before moving on to the next presentation. Information, plans, even answered questions mean nothing without action and follow-up. We start planning our presentations with a single question “What do we want our people to DO when we are done speaking?” Don’t send your participants home with a list of things to do, send them home with something DONE!
Learn, Plan, Ask, Do
“Learn, Plan, Ask, Do” is how we make sure our live event attendees get the most out of their experience.
We know if you will use our “Learn, Plan, Ask, Do” teaching method, your attendees will get the most out of your live event too!
