Today’s guest is Odell McCants! Odell has a great back story – he is a former NBA Agent! Over the years and throughout his career he has built some amazing relationships with coaches. This helped him realize there was a need for professional development in the coaching community.

Now, on his podcast (and soon in his membership), he helps coaches get the professional development and leadership skills they need to go to the next level in their career!

One thing holding Odell back is his fear of not having enough content to launch! On today’s show we help Odell launch a membership with NO CONTENT!

For several years Odell was an NBA Player Agent where he did contract negotiations, endorsements, and marketing deals. After many years of the “shark infested” competition he was constantly in, he decided to take a break to figure out his next move.

One question he constantly got from coaches was how they could advance in their careers! Through that, Odell realized that coaches oftentimes really lack professional development, leadership development, and administrative training overall.

Odell found tons of resources on Xs and Os and conditioning, but very few professional development opportunities! This is why Odell decided to make a pivot to represent basketball coaches and help take transactional relationships and turn them into transformational ones!

What are you at in your online business? (12:00)

Odell’s podcast, Beyond The Whistle Podcast, allows him to give tips and advice to coaches that want to advance in their careers. The interviews also serve as 20/20 hindsight stories for other people just starting out in their careers – so they can learn from other people’s successes and lessons they learned along the way.

He has a website (McCantssports.com) but doesn’t have anything set up for his membership yet. We start with getting his domain name to match up with his podcast so he can be easily found!

What’s holding you back? (18:00)

Odell says the biggest things holding him back right now are “paralysis by analysis,” a lack of time, and feeling pressure to create a ton of content.

He has the relationships to get things started but is being overcome by personal overwhelm. Odell feels he needs the right platform to move forward with it. Odell has started identifying black holes of time by using his time tracker to find the time for his online business! He feels a lot of overwhelm trying to get all of his content out on his own.

Most people come to a membership because they want wisdom. As a membership owner you have to monetize your wisdom and experiences and monetize the path that God put you on and help pass that knowledge on to the next person!

What are your biggest fears? (38:00)

The biggest fear Odell is struggling with is doubt in himself. A lot of the guys he has been talking to are his friends, who are not paying him for his time.

With that said – we need to get Odell an order form so he can start opening the door for EVERYONE to pay him for his God-given talents, experiences, and knowledge!
