You don’t need a spend a fortune for digital artwork!
If you need digital artwork without spending a fortune, this Canva.com tutorial is for you!
I started using Canva recently and it’s my current favorite online tool.
I mentioned it on our podcast about our 5 favorite digital tools (click here to listen), and I’ve had a ton of email requests to share more about it.
There are many ways to create digital images for your website or digital product.
If you’re just getting started, Canva is a great way to create high-quality images without spending a lot of money. Follow this simple 5 step Canva.com tutorial to start creating your own digital images today!
Step 1: Create a Canva.com account.
If you don’t have a Canva account, just head on over to Canva.com to create one. You can use a Facebook account or an email address and password. The signup process is very fast and easy. You can complete the short Canva design challenge as well, although they omit some of my favorite things about using Canva. At that point, it’s time to start your first design!
Step 2: Choose what you want to design.
There are lots of options, and you can even type in custom dimensions. I usually like to choose one of Canva’s design choices, though, so you can take advantage of their templates. I love the options here because you don’t have to spend time looking up the dimensions of a Facebook ad or podcast art. They’re already there for you.
Step 3: Choose a template to customize.
This is the best feature of Canva, in my opinion. There are TONS of templates just waiting for you to customize them. Scroll through them and choose one that fits your project best. Remember you can change the background picture(s) and words to meet your needs.
Step 4: Change the pictures, words, and colors to fit your project.
Don’t like the fonts or colors on the template? It’s easy to change them in Canva. Just click on the element you want to change and make the necessary adjustments. You can even use hex codes for the colors if your website has a specific color scheme. If the background image doesn’t fit your product, upload your own for free or use one of Canva’s for only $1.00. To add a new background image, simply drag a picture over to the background.
Step 5: Download your finished image.
Click the download link at the top of the screen and make a note of the file name as the download completes. You’re ready to use your fabulous Canva image!
I hope this Canva.com tutorial has been helpful to you. Give it a try and see what you can do! You may be surprised at how easy it is to create great looking artwork in a matter of minutes! Need more help? Check out the Canva.com Design School!
