It’s Good Friday, the day Christians around the world remember Christ dying on the cross.
But the story doesn’t there!
Mark 10:33-34:
They will condemn him to death… They will mock him and spit on him, flog him and kill him. Three days later He will rise.
Jesus KNEW he was entering into a dark period.
He knew he HAD to go through the spitting, the beating, and even death to accomplish his mission.
Jesus knew it. And he wanted to avoid it.
Remember in the garden Jesus asked, “Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me.”
But he also knew He was unstoppable.
He knew God had a plan.
He knew that death was coming for him on Friday, but on Sunday HE WOULD RISE!
So he went to the cross, and into the tomb, and then HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD!
I always draw so much power from the Easter story.
First, because Christ laid down his life so that we could live!
He allowed himself to die, so he could defeat death on our behalf!
He was broken, so he could rebuild the bridge between us and God the Father!
He took the punishment, so we wouldn’t have to.
Amazing love.
Second, for the powerful example of overcoming obstacles in our life.
How many times do we enter into something, and we know its going to be hard?
We know it’s going to take sacrifice.
We know the haters are going to spit their negative words at us.
We know there will be enemies who want to beat us and see us fall.
Yes, we even know there is a chance of failure (death).
At times we want to quit, or we wish there was another way.
But we move forward. Because we have to.
We have to do what’s right, we have to sacrifice what we want for the people we love: our spouse, our kids, our customers.
Just like Christ sacrificed for the people he loved (all of us).
But Jesus KNEW he would RISE!
And that gave him the courage to go through the trial, to pass the test.
When you find yourself facing a challenge, just remember: be like Jesus… KNOW that YOU WILL RISE too!
God has a plan for your life, just like he had a plan for Christ.
That plan may be a difficult time. It may be a challenging path. It may be the wilderness, before the promised land.
But make no mistake, God does have a plan for you and your family!
So whatever it is you are facing down in your life, remember Christ example.
Pray about it. Move forward. Go through it. AND RISE!
Have a GREAT Good Friday!
